    Highlights

    • This expedition is in Jangamo Bay, Mozambique, an extraordinary marine haven recognised as a Mission Blue Hope Spot and designated by the IUCN as an Important Marine Mammal Area.
    • As Love The Oceans’ primary operating area, Jangamo boasts not only incredible reefs, but also exceptional whale encounters. Its uniquely sheltered coastline creates calm waters that humpback whales favour during their migration, meaning they regularly come right up to the back of the breakers - you will see them from your accommodation with your morning coffee.
    • Unlike many other locations, you don’t have to paddle far to see them—here, whales are often visible in incredibly high numbers, making it one of the most magical places in the world to witness these giants of the sea.
    • You’ll be staying in a beautiful private lodge called Catalina. Catalina has incredible views. You’ll have a sunrise view over the ocean with the whales every morning, and there’s a sundeck that is the perfect location for sundown cocktails or a spot of yoga, with an incredible view over the jungle. Our group will be the only people staying there.
    • Catalina is a 5 minute drive from our launch site in an open back pick up truck local style! The lodge also has beach access if you’d prefer to walk. The trip price is based off twin sharing but we’ll make these into double beds for couples, or single supplements are available if you’d prefer not to share.
    • Designed to feel like a holiday with purpose, you’ll join guided ocean safaris to observe humpback whales in high numbers in their breeding grounds, collect behavioural data, explore estuaries on seahorse safaris, and paddleboard with cetaceans in the calm Mozambican waters. All activities are led by qualified marine biologists, and every guest plays a role in data collection that contributes to our long-term research.
    • Throughout your stay, you’ll enjoy chef-prepared meals, sundowners with a view, and the chance to unwind between outings — or upgrade to include optional dive safaris if you want to see even more of our incredible coastline.
    • By joining this expedition, you’re directly funding grassroots conservation. 100% of trip proceeds go straight to Love The Oceans’ projects, supporting critical work in sustainable fishing, marine research, ocean education, gender equity, and community empowerment.
